1. Say No to Chemical Treatments
The first and foremost is to stop using chemical treatments on your hair that include dying, rebonding, extenso, highlights, perming etc. These definitely look good but the cost is loss of your hair's natural texture. Be gentle to your hair.
2. Avoid Thermal Styling Products
Avoid using blow dryers, straighteners, curling rods etc, these are extremely harmful to your hair, they take out moisture from your hair, and damage them, this causes split ends, breakage and loss of shine gradually. you can make a plan in your mind to only use thermal styling products once on alternative month but whenever you use thermal styling products, use proper heat protecting serums, a lot of good ones are available in the market best are: john frieda frizz ease, paul mitchell super sculpt, Schwarzkopf OSiS Flatliner Iron Serum Spray.
3. Drink 8 Glass of Water
Water helps your metabolism, proper intake of water makes your system work better and proteins and vitamins reach your hair faster and better. Drinking 8 glasses of water has numerous benefits, it's never a bad deal, and trust me it works, your hair will become sleek, smooth and shiny as well.
4. Balance Diet
Keep your diet good, hair are a part of your body that needs energy to grow that comes from food, you can't expect to have long healthy hair without having balanced diet, eat more vegetables, fruits and everything that includes iron for example: milk, cheese, whole grain, egg, spinach, fresh fruits etc
5. Oil your Hair
Oiling is one the most popular and effective way to give strength to hair. Castor oil helps hair best to grow faster. Apply castor oil on alternative days. I apply hair oil overnight to gain maximum benefit from it, but if you don't want that apply it for at least 2-3 hours before washing so it is absorbed by your scalp. The best way to apply oil is to make it warm first, hot oil massage stimulates follicles better. Whenever applying oil in scalp apply using the tips of your fingers, rub the hair oil properly section by section, make your whole scalp gets the massage.
6. Take Proteins
Add proteins to your diet, consult a doctor to suggest you which protein tablets you should take. The hair strand is made up of protein and fiber, that means the intake of protein and fiber should be adequate enough that the hair grows healthier.
I would not recommend you to start taking protein own your own, do consult a doctor before.
7. Brush Hair with Care
As I said earlier, be gentle to your hair, brush them gently to avoid breakage, once a day brush your hair upside down it stimulate the blood flow of your scalp, this way more blood reaches your hair, bringing all the proteins, carbohydrates and iron to your hair.
8. Be Stress-free
Avoid taking stress, stress causes hair loss, it disturbs the natural cycle of hair growth resulting into hair fall.
9. Pick the Right Shampoo
Don't be careless on choosing shampoo for your hair, a lot of shampoos are available in the market that help your hair lock the fiber in themselves to avoid breakage and hair fall. Pick the one that suits your hair, I use Dove Intensive Repair treatment or Pantene silky smooth care.
Don't Shampoo everyday, use shampoo on alternative days.
10. Use Conditioner
Use conditioner after shampooing your hair, as conditioner makes your hair soft and sleek that prevents breakage. Use conditioner of same range of which you are using the shampoo of e.g. if using Dove's shampoo use dove conditioner with it.
DIY to Make Hair Longer
1. Egg Mask
Egg contains proteins, iron, sulfur, phosphorus, zinc, and selenium. It is a power packed treatment, it makes your hair strong, healthy, shiny and voluminous.
How to Apply?
Take one egg, add one tbs olive oil, whisk it well, apply the mixture to roots using finger tips, apply the rest of mixture to your hair till end. leave it for 1 and 1/2 hour and then wash it off.
2. Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera contains vitamins, zinc calcium etc that encourage hair growth and avoid hair fall.
How to Apply?
Take out Aloe Vera pulp and apply to the roots of your hair, leave for 25-30 minutes and then wash it off.
3. Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar halps hair become strong, avoid hair fall and makes them long and lustrous.
How to Use?
Take a handsome amount of vinegar and wash your hair with it.
4. Potato Juice
Potato juice is not a very famous DIY but it contains vitamin A, B and C that are beneficial for hair.
How to Apply?
Take out potato juice using juice extracting machine. Apply the juice to the roots of your hair and leave for 25-30 minutes and then wash it off.
